FORWARD!

The Wisconsin State Senate, 2027

Director: Emmett Eilers

BACKGROUND GUIDE COMING SOON!

Amid disgruntled farmers and data centers, political pressures, and a shrinking budget surplus, the past and future are colliding on the Wisconsin State Senate floor. The 33 men and women who represent their almost 6 million constituents find themselves in the spotlight, facing either consensus and compromise or legislative deadlock.

Two pressing issues are on the minds of Wisconsin’s State Senators going into this legislative session. On one hand, the historical backbone of the state - agriculture - faces program rollbacks and a worsening economic environment that threatens farmers' way of life and livelihood. On the other, massive data centers could bring huge investment into the state at the cost of clean water, air, energy, and community pushback. Delegates will be asked to tackle these issues head-on, weighing where to compromise while crafting a solution that delivers the impact Senators promised at home.

Delegates will need to navigate political realities while pursuing policy solutions to deliver for Wisconsinites, particularly in the wake of a contentious gubernatorial election. Balancing constituent pressures, limits on legislative action, and emerging issues will push this committee to work together or fall short in delivering for Wisconsin.
